MAFS.K.CC.1.1- Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Classification tool: Educational Games
I would use this online program to teach the Standard MAFS.K.CC.1.1 to kindergarteners to teach them to count by ones and tens until they reach 100. The game is "Whack-A-Mole," and how you play is you start out by hitting the mole with the number 1. After this you will hit number 2, then 3, and so on until you reach 100. To teach them to count by tens, in the upper left corner you can change the "Steps of" from 1 to 10's and it will go by tens. For example; your students would hit 10, followed by 20, then 30 and so on. This is a fun way to teach Kindergarteners to count to 100!
While listening to the podcast I realized I follow the ABCDT method. I am always checking the credibility of the author and the types of websites that I am going on. Especially when I am trying to find "academic and credible" sources I pay close attention to what type of website I am on and the author's credibility. Mentioned in the podcast was to check on the stability and the design of the website, which I don't normally do. I've never really looked to see if the design of the website is a certain way.
The web hunt assignment taught me just how limitless the internet is. I never really had a problem finding any of the questions that I had to. When I had to do the virtual tour of Africa, I felt like I was actually on a tour in Africa. The internet has so many resources that I had no idea existed and I really realized that during the web hunt challenge. Now, here are some questions for you my fellow classmates..
1. You want to teach your students about poems for valentine's day. Have them find a website with a valentine's day poem.
2. You want to find a new website to post your students grades on, where they can also turn in assignments. Find it!
GOODLUCK :)
I used the same classification tool. I believe that this tool is a great way to grab student's attention as well as teach them an important lesson.
